What is public
HBS publishes its DealerCare program: configuration, onboarding, and live training with your dealership's data. That is more support detail than many vendors publish. What we could not confirm from public pages on 2026-11-05: staffed support hours and response time promises. Unconfirmed means we do not know, not that it is bad.
Training with your own data
DealerCare's live training uses your dealership's data. That matters. Staff learn on customers and units they recognize, so the training sticks. Ask how many training sessions are included and whether later new hires get trained too.
Training questions that matter
- Is training on site, remote, or both?
- Is it priced by day, by person, or included?
- Do later new hires get training?
- Is there a practice copy of the system?
- Who do we call in week one after go-live?
The reference check
Ask HBS for two current reference dealers near your size and call them. Ask one question: when something breaks on a busy Monday, what happens? The answer tells you more than any brochure. A historical testimonial in an old brochure is not a current reference.
Write it into the deal
Support hours, channels, response targets, and training days belong in the contract, alongside the DealerCare onboarding scope. Friendly promises in a demo are not a contract.
A worked task: verify a current reference
The HBS brochure testimonial we found is historical, so do your own verification. Suggested exercise: ask HBS for two current dealers near your size, call them, and ask the Monday question — something broke on a busy morning, what happened? Expected output: two current stories, not a brochure quote. The exception to probe: go-live week. Ask each reference what the first two weeks were actually like, because that is when support quality shows itself.
Do this week
Decide which hours your store truly needs support: counter hours only, or early mornings too. Then ask HBS to put hours, channels, and response targets in the contract.
| Term | What it really means |
|---|---|
| Portal access | Self-serve help articles and tickets |
| Staffed support | A person answers during set hours |
| Onboarding | The guided setup period after you sign |
| Live training | A trainer works with your team, not a video |
| Go-live support | Extra help in the first weeks |
