Deal type
C paper, D paper, and story credit
Lenders grade credit like report cards. C paper and D paper mean tougher files. Story credit means there is a clear reason behind the bumps. Here is what each means. Here is how to build a file that gets read. No approval is promised.

What it means
Three kinds of tough files
C paper
Some credit bumps, but the business works. Think late payments. Think little credit history. Think a written off debt with a reason. Often needs money down and proof of steady deposits.
D paper
Bigger, recent problems. Debts sent to collections. Court judgments. Liens. A lien is a legal claim on property. Few firms look. Collateral and cash down matter most. Collateral is property the lender could take back.
Story credit
The score does not tell the whole truth. Maybe a medical bill. Maybe a divorce. Maybe a partner who left. The file needs a clear written reason and proof.
The deal story
What the story must answer
- What happened, and when?
- What is different now?
- How will this machine make money?
- Who are the customers? Any contracts?
- How much cash can go down?
Real pitfalls
What sinks files
- Open tax liens or unpaid judgments
- Recent bounced payments or negative bank balances
- A story that does not match the papers
- Machine price far above market value
- Missing or hard to read bank statements
Tough files often cost more. They may need more money down or shorter terms. Many are still declined. Our job is simple. Make the file complete. Then get it to firms who may look at it.
The short version
Four simple answers
01
What this means for your dealership
- A low score is not the whole story.
- C paper means some credit bumps. D paper means bigger ones. A story deal has a clear reason behind the bumps.
- Some firms read the story. Many do not.
02
When to send us a deal
- The buyer has steady work but a past credit event.
- The bumps have dates and a reason.
- Things are better now and the buyer can show it.
03
What we need to look at it
- A short letter from the owner, in their words.
- Recent business bank statements, sent only in the secure portal.
- Down payment amount and machine details.
04
What happens next
- A broker checks the story against the papers.
- Matching firms review it and decide.
- No approval is promised. Some files will still be declined.
