EQUIPMENTDEALER FINANCE

For equipment sales reps

The bank said no. You don't have to.

A no can cost you a commission and a customer. Here is how to keep the buyer talking. And here is how to hand off a file that gets a real second look.

The 30-second script

"I hear you. The first lender passed. That's not the end. We work with a finance broker who takes a second look at deals like yours. They'll want the real story. How long have you run crews? What work is lined up? What happened with the credit? It's no promise. But it's a real shot. Can I get them started today?"

Deal checklist

Before you send

  • Business name, state and time in business
  • Machine: brand, model, year, hours, stock number
  • Price, and the money down the buyer can put in
  • Short note: why the first lender passed
  • Buyer knows a broker will contact them
  • No SSN, DOB or bank files in texts or email

“Bank said no” sequence

Five moves to save the sale

  1. 1

    Stay calm

Don't say sorry for the bank. Say the deal is not over.

  2. 2

    Get the story

What happened with credit? What jobs are booked? How long in the trade?

  3. 3

    Pin down the machine

Stock number, year, hours and price. Clear machine details make a clear file.

  4. 4

    Send it the right way

Use your dealer portal or your dealer link. Never text SSNs or bank papers.

  5. 5

    Be honest

Promise no approval, rate or timing. Do promise to follow up.

F&I referral checklist

Before you send the file

  • Business name, state, time in business
  • Machine: type, year, hours, serial, stock #
  • Price and money down
  • Why the first lender passed, in one line
  • Buyer knows a broker will reach out
  • No SSN or bank files by text or email

Common objections

What buyers say, and what to say back

“The bank already said no.”

Banks have strict rules. Other providers read the whole story. Asking costs you nothing.

“Will this hurt my credit?”

Ask the provider. Each one checks credit its own way. They need your OK first.

“The rate will be crazy.”

I can’t promise a rate. You see any offer before you sign. You can say no.

“How long will it take?”

It depends on the provider and how complete the file is. Let’s get the papers right first.

The short version

Four simple answers

01

What this means for your dealership

  • A decline does not have to cost you the commission.
  • You keep the buyer talking instead of walking.

02

When to send us a deal

  • The first lender said no or stalled.
  • The buyer has a story and steady work.

03

What we need to look at it

  • The checklist above, filled in.
  • The buyer's OK to be contacted.

04

What happens next

  • Your dealership sends it in the portal.
  • A broker follows up. Providers decide.
