The books and the dashboard
NetView ECO connects accounting to the rest of the store, and its ActiveDesktop dashboard offers over 100 real-time data tiles. In plain words: the numbers that matter can sit on your screen all day, not just in a month-end report. A sales manager can watch open quotes. A service manager can watch billed hours.
Reports that matter for dealers
- Gross profit by department: sales, parts, service, rental.
- Aged inventory: units and parts sitting too long.
- Tech hours paid versus billed.
- Open quotes by rep and by age.
- Rental utilization per unit.
- Branch-by-branch comparison for multi-location groups.
The rekeying audit
If your office exports data to spreadsheets to build reports the dashboard does not cover, count that time. Hours per month times the loaded hourly cost is real money. Use the tool below. The ActiveDesktop tiles and built-in reports should cover the daily numbers; check what is left over.
What to ask
- Which reports come standard?
- Can I build my own dashboard tiles without a support ticket?
- Can reports run across branches?
- Can I schedule a report to email itself every Monday?
- How does our outside accountant get what they need?
Honest limit
Public pages show the dashboard idea but not the full report catalog. Ask to see the five reports above with your own eyes before you sign.
A worked task: build two dashboards live
ActiveDesktop offers over 100 data tiles. Suggested demo test: have the vendor build a sales manager's dashboard — open quotes, aging units, follow-ups due — then a service manager's — open work orders, tech hours billed. Inputs: two job roles. Expected output: two useful screens in minutes, not a support ticket. The exception to understand: a tile is a live number for daily decisions, not a month-end report for the accountant. Ask which tiles exist and which reports still run the old way.
Do this week
Ask each manager for the three numbers they check first every morning. Those are the tiles to build in the demo.
| Need | Dashboard tile | Month-end report |
|---|---|---|
| Speed | Real-time, always on | Built after the month closes |
| Best for | Daily decisions | Accounting and taxes |
| Who uses it | Managers every day | Owner and accountant |
| Example | Open quotes today | Gross profit by department |
