Data migration

Moving your customer data into Texada Equipment CRM

What moving into a sales CRM involves: customer lists, open deals, equipment data, and a readiness checklist you can export.

Based on public product documentation. We have not tested a private account. Sources checked 2026-11-05. Product names belong to their owners; this is an independent guide, not an endorsement.

A CRM move is lighter than a DMS move

Moving into a sales CRM is mostly about customers and open deals, not parts counts and accounting history. That is the good news. The bad news: your customer list is probably messier than you think. Duplicates, dead emails, and three spellings of the same company all move with you unless you clean them first.

Your data, in buckets

Customers and their contacts. Units they own, if you track that today. Open opportunities and their stages. Activity history worth keeping. Each bucket needs a decision: what moves, what gets cleaned first, and what stays behind as read-only history.

What to ask Texada

  • Who does the data mapping, us or you?
  • How many test imports do we get before the real one?
  • Can equipment ownership data move, or only contacts?
  • What happens to duplicates during import?
  • What does the first week of use look like for a rep?

Use the checklist

The checklist below is the same one we would use. Check items off, export to CSV, and bring it to your vendor meeting. Clear answers to every line are the sign of a vendor who has done this before.

A worked task: the duplicate sweep

Suggested exercise: export your customer list and sort by phone number. Every phone number that appears twice is a duplicate record. Inputs: your current list. Expected output: a duplicate count and a merge plan before any import. The exception to plan for: customers who exist in your DMS and in a rep's spreadsheet. Decide which system wins before the move, or you will import the argument along with the data.

Do this week

Ask Texada for a written mapping plan: which of your fields land where, and how many test imports you get before the real one.

Migration buckets and the cleaning question for each.
