Anvil Pro and your DMS: the connection questions
Anvil Pro works alongside your DMS. What to ask about the connection before you buy, and how to audit the double-typing.

Alongside, not instead
Anvil Pro handles the sales floor: CRM, quoting, appraisals, settlement. Your DMS handles the store: units, parts, service, invoices, the books. The connection between them is what stops double typing. Tractor Zoom's own comparison page talks about dealer software choices, which shows they expect this question. Ask it directly.
What to ask
- Which DMS systems does Anvil Pro connect to, in writing?
- Does the connection pull unit data, push settled deals, or both?
- Is the connection live or a nightly file?
- Is the connection included or priced separately?
- Who maintains it when either side changes?
Real pipe versus buzzword
We integrate can mean three very different things: a nightly file, a live connection, or we will build it for a fee. Ask which one your DMS gets. A nightly unit sync is fine for availability lists. It is not fine when a rep quotes a unit that sold this morning.
The rekeying audit
Count the double-typing between your sales floor and your DMS today. Customer details typed twice, unit details copied into quotes, settled deals re-entered for invoicing. Use the tool below to put dollars on it. That is the budget a real connection has to beat.
A worked task: the sold-this-morning test
Suggested demo test: ask what happens when a rep quotes a unit that sold an hour ago. Inputs: one unit, one sale, one quote. Expected output: the truth about sync timing. A nightly sync means the quote goes out on a sold unit; a live connection means it cannot. The exception to ask about: who maintains the connection when your DMS updates. A pipe nobody maintains becomes a manual export with extra steps.
Do this week
Write down your DMS name and version. Connection answers are only real when they are about your exact system, in writing.
| Type | What it means | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Manual export | You download and upload files | Rare, low-volume tasks |
| Nightly file | Data syncs once a day | Unit lists, customer lists |
| Live connection | Data moves when things happen | Unit availability, settled deals |
| Built-in module | No pipe needed, same system | Anything inside one product |
Rekeying cost tool
Count the records your team types twice each month. Entered numbers only; illustrative defaults.
| Hours re-typing per month | 6.0 |
| Labor value of that time | $180 |
| Monthly total (labor + software) | $380 |
| Scenario cost per funded dealRe-typing labor plus the software cost you entered only. Not your full cost to close a deal. | $38.00 |
