Data migration
Moving your customer data into Anvil Pro
What moving into a Salesforce-based sales tool involves: customers, open deals, and a readiness checklist you can export.

A sales-tool move is mostly a cleaning job
Moving into Anvil Pro is about customers, open quotes, and follow-up history. The hard part is not the import. It is that your customer list is probably messier than you think: duplicates, dead emails, and the same company spelled three ways. Clean first, import second.
The Salesforce wrinkle
Because Anvil Pro is built on Salesforce, your data lands in a Salesforce-shaped home. That is fine, but ask who owns the mapping work and whether your team can export everything later if you ever leave. Your data is your business. You should be able to take it with you.
What to ask
- Who does the data mapping, us or you?
- How many test imports do we get before the real one?
- How are duplicates handled during import?
- Can we export everything later, in a usable format?
- What does the first week of use look like for a rep?
Use the checklist
The checklist below is the same one we would use for an Anvil Pro move. Check items off, export to CSV, and bring it to your Tractor Zoom meeting. Pay attention to the export line: with a platform-based tool, knowing how your data comes back out is part of the buying decision.
A worked task: the exit question
Ask the leaving question before you join: how do we export everything if we ever go? Inputs: one direct question. Expected output: a specific answer about formats and access, in writing. The exception that matters with platform-based tools: your data lives in a Salesforce-shaped home, so ask whether exports are usable without Salesforce knowledge. Your customer list is your business. You should be able to take it with you.
Do this week
Export your current customer list and merge the duplicates now. Clean data helps every vendor's migration quote and every system's first week.
| Data bucket | Clean before you move? |
|---|---|
| Customers | Merge duplicates, fix phone and email |
| Contacts | One person, one record, right company |
| Open quotes | Move only real, active deals |
| Trade appraisals | Move open ones, archive the rest |
| Follow-up history | Decide how much is worth keeping |
