How quoting should work inside Quantum, what clean quote data does for financing, and what to test in a demo.

The quote is the deal's backbone
A quote is a written price on a real unit. If the quote is built from the real unit record, everything after it gets easier: the order, the invoice, and the financing file. If the quote is typed from memory, errors follow it all the way down.
What the vendor says
DIS describes Quantum as one platform from sales through financial management. The promise is that a quote becomes an order becomes an invoice without re-typing. Watch that exact path in your demo, with your own unit numbers.
Where financing fits
A funding firm wants the year, model, hours, serial number, and price. A good DMS quote already has all of it. If your reps build quotes from the unit record, the financing file is half done before anyone asks.
What to test in the demo
- Build a quote from a real unit record.
- Add a trade-in and watch the numbers change.
- Turn the quote into an order, then an invoice.
- Find every open quote by rep and by age.
- Email or print the quote for the customer.
Worked example
A landscape contractor asks for a price on a used mini excavator. The rep quotes from the unit record, so hours and serial number are right. The buyer needs financing, and the file goes out with correct machine data the first time. No round trips. No re-typed errors.
A worked task: the no-retype relay
Suggested demo test: one of your real used units goes from quote to order to invoice while you watch. Inputs: a unit record with hours and serial number. Expected output: three documents, one record, zero re-typed fields. The exception to probe: the trade-in. Ask whether trade details are real fields that flow through, or a note someone re-types at each step. Notes are where errors breed.
Do this week
Take your last invoice and trace it backward: how many times was the same number typed? Each re-type is a place a deal can stall or a digit can flip.
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Year, make, model | Sets the machine's value |
| Hours | Used machines are priced by use |
| Serial number | Identifies one specific unit |
| Price and money down | Sets the amount to finance |
| Trade-in details | Changes the real amount financed |
