What OEM ordering means
OEM means original equipment manufacturer — the factory. An OEM connection lets your parts counter order from the factory inside the DMS, pull price updates, and support service workflows. DIS names CNH, Kubota, and AGCO among the OEMs Quantum integrates with, and says others are supported.
Why it matters at the counter
Without the connection, your parts person types the order into the DMS, then types it again into the factory website. With it, the order flows through. Less typing, fewer errors, faster answers for the customer waiting at the counter.
What to test in the demo
- Order a part from your main brand inside the system.
- Check factory stock without leaving the screen.
- See how factory price changes reach your system.
- Build a reorder list from sales history.
- Look up a part by number and by description.
The rekeying audit
Count the orders your team types twice each month, times the minutes each. The tool below turns that into hours and dollars. That is what a real OEM connection should remove. If the number is small, the connection matters less to you. Let your own math decide.
Honest limit
DIS names several OEMs publicly, but depth can differ by brand. A price file update is not the same as live factory stock. Get the connection list for your brands in writing, and ask what flows through each one.
A worked task: the superseded part order
Suggested demo test for a brand DIS names publicly, like CNH, Kubota, or AGCO: order a part that the factory has superseded with a newer number. Inputs: an old part number from your own shelves. Expected output: the system surfaces the supersession, you order the current part, and an order acknowledgment comes back into the DMS. The exception to ask about: how deep the acknowledgment goes. A confirmation number is good; live backorder status and ship dates are better. Ask which of your brands get which depth.
Do this week
Find three part numbers on your shelf that factories have superseded. Bring them to the demo. A connection that handles supersessions cleanly saves your counter real time every week.
