DIS Quantum customer portal: what to look for

What a dealer customer portal should do, what DIS publishes about Quantum's, and how to test it with real customers in mind.

Based on public product documentation. We have not tested a private account. Sources checked 2026-11-05. Product names belong to their owners; this is an independent guide, not an endorsement.

What a customer portal is

A customer portal is a website where your customers help themselves: see their machines, their invoices, their service history, and sometimes request service or order parts. Done well, it cuts phone tag. Done badly, it is a ghost town nobody logs into.

What DIS publishes

DIS lists customer-facing tools in the Quantum family, but public pages we checked on 2026-11-05 do not detail every portal feature. Treat portal depth as unconfirmed and test it live. Ask the vendor to log in as a customer and show what that customer actually sees.

What good looks like

  • Customers see their units and service history.
  • Customers can request service without calling.
  • Invoices and statements are visible and payable.
  • Parts ordering for your best accounts.
  • The portal matches your brand, not the vendor's.

The adoption question

A portal only pays if customers use it. Ask the vendor what share of customers typically adopt it, and what dealers do to drive sign-ups. If the answer is vague, plan your own rollout: start with your twenty best accounts and get them logged in before launch.

Worked example

A dealer's rental customers call every morning to ask what is out on rent and when it is due back. The portal shows each customer their own active rentals. The phone stops ringing at 7 a.m. The counter staff gets an hour back every day.

A worked task: be the customer

Suggested demo test: have the vendor log into the portal as one of your customers would, on a phone, and request service on a specific machine. Inputs: a customer with units and history. Expected output: the customer sees their machines, picks one, describes the problem, and the request lands in your service queue. The exception to plan for: adoption. Ask what share of customers typically use the portal and what dealers do to drive sign-ups, because a portal nobody logs into is a feature you paid for and got nothing from.

Do this week

List the five questions your counter answers by phone most often. Each one the portal answers instead is counter time returned.
