What is public
IntelliDealer has public help files online, which is a good sign: the product is documented. VitalEdge also runs webinars and training content. What we could not confirm from public pages on 2026-11-05: staffed support hours, phone versus ticket rules, and response time promises. Unconfirmed means we do not know, not that it is bad.
Portal access is not staffed support
IntelliDealer's public help files are a real library, and a good one. But a library is not a person who answers. Ask VitalEdge which you get, when, and how fast. A 24/7 portal with a next-business-day callback is fine for some stores and a problem for others. Know which one you are buying.
Training questions that matter
- Is training on site, remote, or both?
- Is training priced by day, by person, or included?
- Do new hires later get training, or only the first group?
- Is there a sandbox where staff can practice safely?
- Who do we call in week one after go-live?
The reference check
VitalEdge's 2026 awards named real dealerships on IntelliDealer. Ask for two references near your size and call them. Ask one question: when something breaks on a busy Monday, what happens? The answer tells you more than any brochure.
Write it into the deal
Whatever support and training you agree on, get it in the contract. Hours, channels, response targets, and training days. Friendly promises in a demo are not a contract.
A worked task: the Monday test
Before you sign, ask two reference dealers the same question: something broke on a busy Monday — what happened? Write down who answered, how fast, and how it ended. Expected output: two short stories you can compare against the vendor's promises. One clear story from a real dealer beats a page of support marketing. The exception to probe: a problem at 7am before your counter opens. Ask who picks up then, because that is when equipment dealers actually break things.
Do this week
Decide what your store actually needs: a portal, a phone number, or both, and during which hours. Then ask VitalEdge to put the support hours, channels, and response targets in the contract.
| Term | What it really means |
|---|---|
| Portal access | Self-serve help articles and tickets |
| Staffed support | A person answers during set hours |
| SLA | A written promise on response time |
| Sandbox | A practice copy of your system |
| Go-live support | Extra help in the first weeks |
