Whole goods, plain and simple
Dealers call machines for sale whole goods. Each unit is its own record: year, make, model, serial number, hours, cost, and price. IntelliDealer's public help files show an equipment listing screen for exactly this. That is a good sign: the unit record is a real, documented thing, not a brochure promise.
Why unit data quality pays
A clean unit record feeds everything else. The quote pulls from it. The website listing pulls from it. The funding firm asks for it. If the hours are wrong in the system, they are wrong everywhere. Garbage in, garbage out.
What to look for in the demo
- Can you see cost, price, and days in inventory on one screen?
- Can you attach photos and inspection notes to the unit?
- Can you mark a unit as sold, quoted, or on hold?
- Does the unit record connect to the CRM quote?
- Can you find a unit by serial number in two clicks?
Aged inventory is real money
A machine that sits 180 days is cash you cannot use. Ask the vendor to show an aging report: every unit, how long it has sat, and what it cost you. If the report takes an IT ticket to build, that tells you something.
Worked example
A dealer has 40 used units. The aging report shows 9 units over 200 days. The manager marks those down or moves them to auction. The cash freed up pays for two fast-turning new models. The report did not sell anything. It just told the truth fast.
A worked task: the listing filter check
IntelliDealer's public help files document an equipment listing screen, so this one is grounded in real documentation. Suggested demo test based on it: filter your unit list to a status that matters, like quoted or on hold, then pick one unit and confirm its serial number, hours, cost, and price on the record. Expected output: a filtered list and a complete unit record in a few clicks. The exception to ask about: the help files describe a specific version, so confirm your quoted setup matches what the documentation shows.
Do this week
Count your units by status right now: for sale, quoted, on hold, sold not delivered. If you cannot get that count in five minutes from your current setup, bring that exact pain to the demo.
| Field | Who uses it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Serial number | Funding firms, warranty | Identifies one specific unit |
