Parts pays the bills
Machines get the glory. Parts pays the bills. A good parts system knows what you have, what you sold, what to reorder, and what each part should sell for. Flyntlok's public pages cover parts as a core department, and its support site documents item pricing rules — how your store's sell prices are set and adjusted inside the system.
Why pricing rules matter at the counter
Item pricing rules decide what the counter charges: list price, customer discounts, contract rates for commercial accounts. If the rules are flexible, your counter charges the right price without a calculator. Read the public help article before the demo, then ask to see a commercial account's contract price apply automatically.
What to test in the demo
- Look up a part by number, description, and by the machine it fits.
- See on-hand, on-order, and sold-this-year counts.
- Build a reorder list from sales history.
- Apply a contract price to a commercial account.
- Sell a part over the counter and watch stock update.
The rekeying audit
If your parts person keys an order into the DMS and then keys it again on a supplier website, count it. Orders per month times minutes each is real labor. Use the tool below to put dollars on it. That number tells you what a real supplier connection is worth to your counter.
A worked task: the contract-price test
Flyntlok's public help documents item pricing rules. Suggested demo test: ring up a part for a commercial account and watch the contract price apply without the counter person calculating anything. Inputs: one commercial customer with a special rate. Expected output: the right price, automatically. The exception to test: the override. Ask how a counter person handles a one-time deal, and how the manager sees overrides later, because unlogged overrides are margin leaking.
Do this week
Read the public pricing-rules help article before the demo. Walking in knowing the feature's real name makes the demo answer your questions instead of the vendor's.
| Number | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Fill rate | How often the part is on the shelf when needed |
| Turns | How fast parts dollars cycle |
| Dead stock | Parts with no sales in a year |
| Special orders | Parts you do not stock, and how long they take |
| Contract pricing | Commercial accounts charged the right rate |
