e-Emphasys parts inventory across branches
How ERP parts inventory works for dealer groups: shared stock, supplier ordering, and the rekeying math to test.

Parts at group scale
One store's parts problem is counting. A group's parts problem is sharing. If each branch orders alone, the group over-buys slow parts and runs out of fast ones. An ERP lets the group see all stock at once and move parts instead of buying them again.
What the vendor lists
VitalEdge lists parts and supplier operations inside e-Emphasys. Supplier operations means ordering from factories and distributors inside the system. Public pages do not list which suppliers connect or how deep, so get the list for your brands in writing.
What to test in the demo
- See one part's stock across all branches on one screen.
- Build a transfer between branches.
- Build a supplier order from reorder suggestions.
- Check a factory's price and stock if a connection exists.
- See dead stock: parts with no sales in a year.
The rekeying audit
If your parts people type orders into the ERP and then again into a supplier website, count it. Orders per month times minutes each is real labor. Use the tool below to put dollars on it. That number tells you what a real supplier connection is worth.
Worked example
A group finds $80,000 of parts that have not sold in a year, spread across four branches. Two branches have too much of a filter that a third branch buys every month. The system flags it, the parts move, and the group stops double-buying. The report did not sell a part. It stopped waste.
A worked task: the dead-stock hunt
Suggested demo test: ask for every part with no sales in twelve months, across all branches, on one screen. Inputs: your parts file. Expected output: a dead-stock list with branch locations, so a part gathering dust in one store can fill orders in another. The exception to watch: transfers are only cheaper than new orders if freight and handling do not eat the savings. Ask how the system flags when a transfer beats a purchase.
Do this week
Pull your own dead-stock total if you can. Groups are often surprised by the number, and it is the fastest way to size what shared inventory is worth to you.
| Number | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Fill rate | How often the part is on the shelf when needed |
| Turns | How fast parts dollars cycle |
| Dead stock | Parts with no sales in a year |
| Transfers | Parts moved between branches instead of bought |
| Emergency orders | Rush orders that cost extra freight |
Rekeying cost tool
Count the records your team types twice each month. Entered numbers only; illustrative defaults.
| Hours re-typing per month | 6.0 |
| Labor value of that time | $180 |
| Monthly total (labor + software) | $380 |
| Scenario cost per funded dealRe-typing labor plus the software cost you entered only. Not your full cost to close a deal. | $38.00 |
