e-Emphasys accounting and reporting

What ERP accounting means for a dealer group: one set of books, department profit, and the reports to ask for.

Based on public product documentation. We have not tested a private account. Sources checked 2026-11-05. Product names belong to their owners; this is an independent guide, not an endorsement.

One set of books

ERP accounting means every department posts into the same books. A part sold, a work order closed, a unit delivered, a rent collected: each becomes an accounting entry without re-typing. For a multi-branch group, that is the difference between closing the month in days or in weeks.

What the vendor lists

VitalEdge lists accounting and financial operations inside e-Emphasys. Public pages do not show the chart of accounts or report screens, so test them live. Bring your controller to the demo. They will ask the questions that matter.

Reports to ask for

  • Gross profit by department and by branch.
  • Aged inventory: units and parts.
  • Open invoices and who owes you.
  • Tech hours paid versus billed.
  • Rental profit per unit.
  • One group-level view across all branches.

The rekeying audit

If your central office exports from each branch's system to build the group report, count that time per branch. Hours per month times the loaded hourly cost, times the number of branches, is real money. Use the tool below. One set of books should make most of that labor go away.

Honest limit

We could not confirm from public pages whether e-Emphasys replaces your outside accounting package fully or works alongside it. Ask exactly how your accountant gets what they need at tax time.

A worked task: time the close

Measure your current month-end close: the day the last branch's numbers are final, minus the first of the month. Inputs: your last three closes. Expected output: a number of days. Suggested demo test: ask how e-Emphasys changes that number for a group your size, and what the branch roll-up looks like live. The exception to plan for: your outside accountant. Ask exactly what they receive at tax time and in what format, because a perfect internal close that starves your accountant is a problem deferred, not solved.

Do this week

Ask your controller what they export to spreadsheets each month. Every export on that list is a report the ERP should replace, so bring the list to the demo.
