OPE parts are a volume game

An OPE parts counter sells hundreds of small parts a week: belts, blades, filters, chains. The system has to be fast at the counter and honest about stock. Ideal lists inventory as a core part of its outdoor power product.

What to test in the demo

  • Look up a part by number, description, and by the machine it fits.
  • See on-hand, on-order, and sold-this-year counts.
  • Build a reorder list from sales history.
  • Sell a part over the counter and watch stock update.
  • Handle a special order for a part you do not stock.

The rekeying audit

If your parts person types an order into the DMS and then again into a supplier website, count it. Orders per month times minutes each is real labor. Use the tool below to put dollars on it. That number tells you what a real supplier connection is worth.

Season matters

OPE is seasonal. Belts and blades fly in spring. Ask to see how the system suggests reorder quantities from last year's spring sales, not just last month's. A system that only looks back one month will leave you short in April.

Honest limit

Public pages list inventory as a core feature but do not detail every supplier connection. Get the list for your brands and distributors in writing before you sign.

A worked task: the April test

OPE is seasonal, so suggested demo test: ask the system to suggest reorder quantities for belts and blades using last spring's sales, not last month's. Inputs: a full year of sales history. Expected output: suggestions that anticipate the season instead of trailing it. The exception to plan for: special orders. An OPE counter lives on parts it does not stock, so ask how special orders are tracked and how the customer gets notified when the part lands.

Do this week

Pull last April's top twenty parts by units sold. If your current system cannot produce that list in five minutes, bring the gap to the demo.
